Momentum and Quality Divergence in the AIQ 50: September 4, 2026
How often do Momentum and Quality disagree within the published AIQ 50? This snapshot compares the two factor readings without testing a trading strategy or future returns.
Findings within this cohort
- 27 of 50 paired observations had Quality above Momentum.
- 22 had Momentum above Quality; 1 had equal readings.
- The mean absolute difference between Momentum and Quality was 14.56 points on their 0–100 scales.
A gap describes different model readings. It does not establish mispricing, a causal relationship or a forecast.

Sample and method
The sample is the 50 securities in the retained equity-only AIQ 50 export, not all US stocks and not a random sample. Ranking, liquidity, price, confidence and coverage filters affect selection. The export reports 1047 eligible securities within a covered universe of 1470.
Analysis compares available finite 0–100 factor values. Each factor reports its own available count; paired findings require both Momentum and Quality. The absolute gap is |Momentum − Quality|. Means and medians are descriptive and unweighted. The retained leaderboard version is lb-v1.0.0.
Selection into a high-scoring cohort limits generalization. This cross-sectional study does not demonstrate persistence, causality, investment suitability or future performance. Missing values are excluded, not replaced with zero.
